Mary likes her quilts to evoke a feeling, hint at a story and delight the eye, enticing the viewer in to touch the work as part of experiencing it. Her studio, above a garage in Bucks County, PA, is the space where she creates this warm and welcoming art using commercial and hand-dyed fabric and lots of thread. She is fascinated by the integrity of line, whether drawn, sewn or quilted, and its powerful effect when combined with value and color in overall design.
Mary recently gave up her massage therapy business in order to create more art quilts. Prior to that, she was a corporate and agency promotional copywriter. She resides in Newtown, PA with Jim, her husband of 27 years, and 20-year-old daughter, Kacy.
